106.9FM WHCR is a new style of radio - you'll hear a mix of songs you know with interesting interviews about local life as well as essential information like weather, travel, news, sport and what's on events. We have just celebrated our 4th birthday and we couldn't have done it without the loyal support of our listeners and supporters so thanks to all of you and here's to the next 4 years.
WHCR DJ Wins Best Radio DJ Vote
All the staff at your favourite local radio station are celebrating at the moment as WHCR Drive-time presenter Pete Mills has been awarded the title of Best Radio DJ in Hull. He won the vote of the general public in a three week independent poll on the Karoo website beating presenters from all other radio stations broadcasting in the city.
Prior to winning Pete had stated on-air that if he won the vote he would dance down Anlaby Road in a dress! After the results were announced staff insisted that Pete carry out the forfeit much to the delight of passing listeners who honked their car horns as he danced by!

In 2009 The New WHCR was a winner of the Nations and Regions Awards. Judging and award presentations were organised by The Radio Academy’s Branches. Each Branch awarded one Nations and Regions Award to the station that the judges felt demonstrated the most consistently outstanding output.
